With an awesome Asian adventure, I ended
my 2015 cycling season on a high note. For me, it felt like some sort of a
breakthrough, and just the thing I needed to keep myself motivated throughout
this winter in preparation for a new cycling season. As I had the option of
staying with the CCN cycling team for the 2016 season, I knew that there was
appreciation for what I’d done. I will, however, stay with my club team
Westland Wil Vooruit for the third consecutive year.
For this year the team got some extra
firepower for the classics, as multiple riders came back after spending some
time with other teams. This, together with the motivated team staff, allows for
the team to not only have a shot at the overall classification in the Dutch Club
Competition, but also go head to head with Continental teams in the
Topcompetition and several UCI races. I’m really looking forward to the
challenge of competing with the best semi-professionals.
With such a nice bunch of good riders,
it’s hard not get excited for the upcoming season. So far the team training on the
past few Saturdays has proven that the team houses a lot of talent. The Team
goals of winning the club competition and becoming the best Dutch club team are
objectives that I would like to contribute to. Besides that, I’d love to
finally take a classics win, which so far seems to be elusive. With the proper
training and aforementioned morale boost, nothing should be impossible in the upcoming cycling season. Nil volentibus arduum!
